1971 Harley Davidson Sportster XLH

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

To bring back to life a True Harley, While trying to keep it as Stock and original as possible. This is also pre AMF.

What motivated you to start your project?

I envisioned what I could with the Bike. I had it all worked out what I wanted to do and what it would look like when finished. My first bike was a Sportster, I have had others, but always liked the Sportster.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

There are plenty of aftermarket parts available. Keeping it Stock and as original as possible makes it unique. I always liked the Sportster Graphic on the Tank. Also added electronic Ignition and Generator with built in Regulator, along with the Black Cherry paint.

What are you most proud of?

I am extremely proud of the fact that I was able to completely assemble the Bike myself. The only exception would be having the Motor Rebuilt and the Paint.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

Great Looking Bike.

Good job. The bike looks great. It’s good to see an original type Harley preserved for the younger generation to appreciate (and me too)!
