1976 Suzuki TS400

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

To cut as much weight as I could, and to use as many parts as I already had in my garage.

What motivated you to start your project?

Wanted a superlightweight, big 2 stroke single. Found this in really sad shape, but cheap. Had a 1981 license plate on it. Total rust, bucket. Engine turned over, but piston crown was melted.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Made all the mounts for the electrics, oil tank, and instruments from an old stop sign. Converted it from 6 volt to 12 volt. Had a “Frankenstein” theme in mind…recycling parts. Made the handlebar crossbar pad with prominent stiches to go with the theme, and “the monster” tank decals on the aluminum tank as the only graphics.

What are you most proud of?

The cobby, unpolished aluminum…and its growling exhaust.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

What is it?
