1980 Harley Davidson Sportster XLH

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Fix what’s broken and clean and scrub til your hands hurt I didn’t keep track of time I was just so excited the potential was there. Everything was dirty but it was not leaking anything so that was a big plus.

What motivated you to start your project?

I have always wanted a Harley I called about another one and it was sold but the salesman at the dealership sent me pictures of this one I saw the potential and she was screaming come get me I paid for it over the phone rented a u haul and drove 350 miles 1 way to get her.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

I couldn’t find the right linkage for the forward controls so I made it out of chain welded the bolts to the ends and painted it black. Rear brake linkage custom I haven’t seen another.

What are you most proud of?

I painted the bike but not without alot of trial and error. I would paint it if I didn’t like it or it wasn’t right I stripped it and did it again I bet I painted the tank 4 times.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

First they are amazed at how much I have done I had no help with anything on this bike all trial and error.
