1984 Harley FXRT – Custom

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Redo an classic hard to find FXRT in a modern and updated fashion. Install a new more powerful drivetrain and generally make it a dependable up to date motorcycle.

What motivated you to start your project?

FXRT’s are now highly sought after motorcycles. They perform well and look great. Once the idea of making a project bike crossed my mind I was in. However, finding an FXRT to work with was not an easy accomplishment. It took me 3 months to locate one and in the end it was in relatively poor shape. It had not run in 3 years and had 75,000 miles on it. But in the end it turned into an outstanding ride.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Probably the electrical system. It has a brand new wiring harness, bluetooth kick butt sound system, keyless bluetooth ignition, LED lighting, integrated garage door opener and a GPS driven speedometer.

What are you most proud of?

Other than paint, pinstriping and powder coating I did all the work in my home shop.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

That it looks good and runs like hell! (smile)
