1990 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

To build something different than anything I had done before.

What motivated you to start your project?

I’ve changed the looks of this bike several times over the years but never considered turning it into a bagger. That changed upon seeing an add for the Cycle Visions “baggertail” kit, it made up my mind as to which path OL RED would go down next.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

The most unique part of the bike is the fabricated filler panels between the oil tank and saddle bags. There are very few options out there for this on softails. I started with heavy gauge construction parer until I had a shape that was close to what I wanted then bent up some sheet metal to match. Trust me, I went through several pieces of sheet metal before getting two that I liked. I don’t really have any sheet metal tools other than shears, I used a couple of pieces of angle iron in the vice for a metal break, they didn’t turn out too bad.

What are you most proud of?

The overall look of the bike and my “home made” filler panels.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

Most think its a Road King until they get a closer look, then i get lots of accolades and questions.
