2000 Honda Shadow VLX

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Mainly to learn about my Honda and see what I could create with out going to over the top and keeping it rideable for 2-people.  Even though it’s overall appearance is stock, it’s been highly personalized.

What motivated you to start your project?

While deployed to Kuwait, Roxanne (wife) sent me motorcycle magazines during this time-I got that itch to start doing some modifications and searching for parts-well custom parts for a small Honda are few and far between so I Started making them and converting Harley parts to fit a metric moto.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

I guess it has to be the rear flame-ish fender struts. Designing the over all paint scheme of the bike.

What are you most proud of?

The fact that everything I have done to it I’m still capable of jumping on it and ride a few hundred miles with out breaking down from some thing that I have modified.  I just enjoy it-I guess and getting the thumbs up as car drive by me.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

It’s not a Harley? That’s very nice and Pretty, totally awesome.  Some people say ” That’s what you ride when you can’t afford a Harley Davidson” but you know that doesn’t really bother me.
