2003 Harley Davidson Fat Boy Softail

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

  • The bike was an anniversary issue and there were a lot produced that had the same color combination as mine. I wanted a bike that stood out from the crowd so after driving the bike home from the dealer I immediately put the bike up on the workbench and stripped it down to just frame and motor. The bike only had 50 miles on the speedo.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

The flames on the tank and fenders are stamped into the metal and are raised above the adjacent metal surfaces. I selected a paint scheme that would accent the flames for a true 3D effect.

What are you most proud of?

That I was able to do all the work myself except for the painting and that my wife did not divorce or kill me.

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

It was always the center of attraction whenever I would go to local bike nites and shows. My son liked it so much that I was forced to give it to him after I purchased a 2013 CVO Breakout.
