2016 Harley Davidson Softail Deluxe

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Ultimate goal is to add a Springer front end to complete the nostalgic look I had originally envisioned.

What motivated you to start your project?

Saw an older bike with similar colors

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

Not entirely unique but waiting a year for matched bags to appear on eBay was a test of patience.

What are you most proud of?

  • Happiest with overall appearance but the improved performance has been a nice surprise

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

Folks tend to ask what year it is and generally guess incorrectly.

Hi yes l love the colors , I have the same color scheme on my 2016 Road King. It’s Harley”s best set of colors in the last few years . People ask me what year it is ,then I say what do you think ? They invariably say 1955 to 1957, and I say wow how did you know 🤔 it’s my first Road King I always had softails since 1998, but my friend insisted how much better the Road King ride was. He was right. The bike was too big for me however, but I got a great end-of-the-year deal on this 2016 as the 17”s had the new engine , so I added a 2 inch lowered progressive Mono tube front suspension, and 944 rear shocks to preserve the ride yet lower the bike. While I like your exhaust, I don’t think it fits the old school theme of the bike, like the fish tails do . A similar Road King to mine made the front page of the American iron Garage Build last year, I believe my effort is better and it’s not quite done yet. So I haven’t submitted it yet. I did the stage one intake and Fishtales & fp3 V&H tuner myself, with a friend . Then I added a set of SuperTrapp headers that fit under the stock heat guards eliminating the catalytic converter & dropping the temps a lot ,no more cylinder shut off even here in Fl . Subsequently I found the profile chrome wire wheels & the Metzger 888 white wall tires went on . Unlike the cover bike I added a stage 3 high compression 110 Ci S.E. kit .The FP3 documents 120 ft/lbs torque & 117 Hp while riding , crank figures I presume . The Last addition was the the Tan croc LePare Monterey seat , just installed as seen in the photo .Currently awaiting , fender bib . You have a nice start 😀👍❗️I plan to submit my bike , but not quite yet done 🤔❓I tried to post a photo seems not able to paste 😠
