2018 Special Construction Softail style non-radical chopper

What was your intended objective when you started the build?

Just to build something unique that appealed to my taste, which is clean and simple.  And unlike most builders, I have an aversion to chrome! Black is the new black.

What motivated you to start your project?

I’ve wanted to learn to build custom motorcycles for 20 years or so, but never had the time until I retired.  After 30 odd years sitting at a desk producing nothing you could hit with a hammer, I was inspired by the combination of art and engineering that building a bike afforded.

What was the most unique and creative thing you did to the bike?

I think the seat is pretty cool, and the rear light I fabricated to make it a pretty unique feature.  I wanted the working parts to be black, so I spent many many hours cleaning and prepping the engine, transmission and primary then sprayed them with VHT flat black paint from rattle cans

I try all the time to be slightly different to what other builders are doing whilst not going too radical

What are you most proud of?

That so many other bikers want to talk to me about it

What do other people say about your motorcycle?

Clean lines.  Simple looks.
